Vinyl Records, Battle of The Bands & The Lost Wheels On The Radio
Greetings Friends of the Wheels! It’s 2014—but you knew that already. We’re writing today to give you a little status update on what’s going on with the Lost Wheels, and specifically with fulfilling some of our rewards.
Rule For A Day – Vinyl Records
Last year, when we were running our Kickstarter campaign, we were waffling back and forth on whether or not we could afford to offer vinyl. The idea was so cool, and something of a dream for all of us that our music would be on an honest-to-goodness 12” record. We did some research and got a quote for a small run of vinyl records, and even had some ideas about how to keep costs down in terms of printing up sleeves. When all was said and done, we thought that if we hit a certain stretch goal, we’d be able to send vinyl out to our supporters who wanted them, so we decided to offer it up.
Fast forward to when the album was finally done about ten months later, and we discovered that the quote we received was just a bit inaccurate. Okay, really REALLY inaccurate. That, combined with underestimated shipping costs for our international backers, and just the general costs of getting everything finished and shipped, and we ran out of the funding necessary to get the vinyl printed up. And that, dear friends, is why our supporters who wanted vinyl have yet to receive it. Believe us when we say we are really sad and frustrated by this outcome.
But there is good news: we’re getting closer and closer to raising enough funds through gigs and personal investment to get the vinyl printed up and shipped out to you. Unfortunately, we’re no closer to giving an actual date on that front, but let’s give a conservative estimate of “this summer” and hope that we can get it to you much, much sooner than that.
We’re extremely sorry about this delay, and we hope to make it up to you with a great record when it’s finally printed up. Hopefully anyone who’s been patiently waiting for our vinyl album can find it in their hearts to forgive us!
Past & Present Radio Appearances
We recently won the “Battle of the Bands” on WFMU’s Seven Second Delay! A copy of our CD is sitting at the station, just waiting to be played. If you’d like to hear the Lost Wheels played on the United States’ oldest and longest-running freeform radio station, shoot the DJs an email, or call up and request our tunes! That’d be swell. We are also going to be playing a live, two-hour set on “Live From Studio Five!” on KFAI here in the Twin Cities on Wednesday, April 16, 10 p.m. to midnight, Central Time. You can tune into the livestream by going to kfai.org, or listening to us on the archive after the show airs.
